2003/01/21 ( 5:34 PM ) cxjo books i'm reading: ecotopia, emma goldman reader, galapagos, from the fryer to the fuel tank, neverwhere ecotopia is about a secessionist group in the u.s. that forms an ecologically and environmentally sustainable society. cool idea but the book is VERY dated.. emma goldman was a feminist and anarchist in the early 20th century. haven't gotten far into this one yet... but so far she is really cool. she was shipped back to russia in the 30's cuz they thought she was a red. galapagos is one of the few vonnegut novels that i actually haven't read yet. it's about "the nature cruise of the century" in the galapagos islands. it takes place after the worlds banks have foreclosed whole countries and, suprise, ecuador is up for sale. so some things go wrong. i think i'm getting to the good part now.. from the fryer to the fuel tank provides a history of the diesel engine and how it was designed originally to run on vegetable oils. it also provides some "how-to's" for making your own biodiesel. neverwhere is a neil gaiman book. i haven't gotten past the front cover yet... but i really liked good omens which he co-wrote with terry pratchet. #
